Preparations for the Soils4Liberia Field Campaign is on the way.
March, 2026
Here are some updates from the Soils4Liberia project from the past couple of months:
-
Preparation is underway for the field campaign —
during which field surveyors will collect soil samples from 1,000 sites across Liberia.
The sampling points represent various agroecological zones and land uses.
The data produced will form the basis of the Liberia Soil Information System (LSIS).
-
An offline Survey (ODK and ONA) and online Data Management Tools (SDMT)
will be deployed to collect, manage and coordinate the field campaign.
The tools are at an advanced stage of development and will soon be available for national deployment.
-
Training materials are being prepared
for field prospectors. This includes detailed fieldwork guidance
and a series of instructional videos to be shared soon.
-
Field Campaign Training Workshop
for Field Supervisors held from 16 – 20 March 2026 at the Central Agricultural Research Institute (CARI) under the Soils4Liberia Project. The training aims to prepare field supervisors with the knowledge and practical skills required to implement the nationwide soil sampling and field data collection campaign.
